How Much Does WhatsApp Business Add-on Cost on Chative?

WhatsApp Business is provided as a paid add-on on Chative.IO. This means that the cost of WhatsApp will be combined with your monthly Chative.IO subscription fee. If you're on a monthly plan and decide to use WhatsApp at any point within the billing period, you will be billed for both your Chative monthly plan and WhatsApp together each month.

Pricing for the WhatsApp Business add-on depends on how many phone numbers you want to connect. Starting with the add-on costs $19, and this includes the first phone number. Any extra phone numbers will incur an additional charge of $19 each.

Conversation-based pricing​

Chative currently uses a conversation-based pricing model for the WhatsApp Business API. With this model, businesses are charged based on the number of conversations they engage in. A conversation begins when a message is delivered to a customer and lasts for 24 hours, during which messages can go back and forth. Regardless of the number of messages exchanged, businesses are billed for each conversation.

We'll take a closer look at the types of conversations in WhatsApp to better understand this pricing model.

Conversation categories​

Conversations are sorted into the following categories:

  • Service — Service conversations help you resolve customer inquiries.
  • Marketing — Marketing conversations include promotions or offers, informational updates, or invitations for customers to respond or take action.
  • Utility — Utility conversations facilitate a specific, agreed-upon request or transaction, or update a customer about an ongoing transaction. These may include transaction confirmations, transaction updates, and/or post-purchase notifications.
  • Authentication — Authentication conversations enable you to authenticate users with one-time passcodes, potentially at multiple steps in the login process (e.g., account verification, account recovery, integrity challenges).

Currently, Chative supports only service conversations, which means your customers can start a chat with your business. Once a conversation gets going, you can reply with any type of message you find suitable.

Conversation duration​

It's important to note that every conversation session is limited to a 24-hour window. This 24-hour period begins when the first business message is sent, whether it's initiated by your business or it's a response to a customer's message.

Within this 24-hour timeframe, both businesses and users can exchange as many messages as needed without incurring any extra charges. Regardless of the message quantity, you'll only be charged once for each 24-hour session.

Free tier conversations​

Each WhatsApp Business Account gets 1,000 free service conversations each month across all of its business phone numbers. This number is refreshed at the beginning of each month, based on WhatsApp Business Account time zone. If you don’t use all 1,000 free conversations each month, the remaining conversations do not carry over to the following month.
